The current run of EVM12Ls is known not to sound like the vintage ones, so Michael Nielsen puts a Black Label Zakk Wylde EVM12L against a vintage one in a single oversized 2x12 to see whether the Zakk does. He warns that a 57 straight on an EV can lose the size you hear standing in front of it, then works his SM57 from the edge of the dust cap out to the middle of the cone and in to dead center, before adding a second one at about 45 degrees, Van Halen style. Last, he turns the amp up pretty loud, and it punches the chest. No winner is declared; he leaves the pick to the viewer.
