Brown Sound

The 1978 rig rebuilt from the original parts, lightly modified for a board, on a promise kept once the same board in modern pedals cleared a thousand comments: an MXR flanger and phaser, a Boss GE-10 EQ, and a real EP-3 Echoplex, with a Dunlop and Chase Tone pair on a looper for when the EP-3 acts up. Lincoln Brewster plays it through a ’69 Plexi that Dave Friedman modded to Ed’s spec, on a Variac, into Greenback 25s, and his verdict from the day he played Ed’s own rig still stands: you can have his rig, but you are not going to sound like him. The flanger is already in the cart.
