The BEST Fractal Tone I’ve Ever Made! Steve Vai Jose Marshall (DLR Era) (opens in a new tab)
Jay Guitar
Steve Vai’s Jose-modded Marshall from Skyscraper, rebuilt on a stock 1959 Plexi model in the Fractal: a tube drive block in front for the extra 12AX7 gain stage Jose added, the saturation switch for his clipping diodes, and the tone stack moved to the end because Jose put the master volume before it. A DS-1 block does the lead. He plays the patch through a Two Notes capture of the cab Vai toured with, which Michael Nielsen of Big Hairy Guitars bought at auction. For the preset’s own cab, he reshaped the speaker impedance curve by ear to get it close to that capture. The preset is on Gumroad for the Axe-Fx III, the FM9 Turbo and the FM3 Turbo, with a version of its own for the AM4. You have already heard it on his channel; you just didn’t know.
