Guitar shops worth the trip in Memphis

Eric Martin opened this Midtown shop in 1997, and it now stocks Collings, Bourgeois and Suhr beside Carr, Bartel and Magnatone amps. The used stock goes past the usual trade-ins: in September 2026 it held a 1959 Gibson ES-175, a Monteleone and a 1966 Fender Bassman. Luthier Robert Scoby does repairs in the store, and the shop takes guitars, amps and pedals on consignment.

A boutique dealer in Cordova carrying Knaggs guitars, MacMillan and Furch acoustics, and Matchless and Mezzabarba amps, with ZVEX and Mesa effects. It keeps no posted hours; the site says to call ahead, and to set up a private appointment if the store is not open.

A locally owned Bartlett shop that says it keeps about 250 guitars in stock and sets up each one before it goes on the wall. It carries Marshall, Orange, Vox and Ampeg amps and has a large pedal section. It handles basic repairs in-store and sends full guitar and amp work to outside techs, and runs a consignment program for vintage and high-end instruments.
